Reed James Layton was born on December 15, 2005, to parents Tobi and Ryan Layton. Reed has two siblings Calvin Layton and Max Layton. Reed's favorite teacher is Mr. Shrum because, “he is very wise, and hilarious.” When asked if he could travel anywhere in the world Reed said he would travel to Europe “there are so many cool places, and awesome scenery.” Reed's favorite school memory is winning State in Cross Country. When Reed was a child, he wanted to be either a Texas sheriff or a paleontologist. Reed plans after high school is to attend SEMO to get his bachelor's degree in English education, with a minor in creative writing. Reed wants to teach and write books. Reed is involved in FCA, Beta, Basketball, Cross Country, and Track. Reed's advice to underclassmen is to “take advantage of the time you have in school, don’t take it for granted.” When asked how he felt about graduating Reed stated, “I am excited for the future but scared to be on my own.
After high school, Reed will miss all his friends, and the fact that his parents pay for all his stuff. When asked what has had the greatest influence on him, he stated “My faith has the biggest influence on me. My parents taught me about God from a young age, so probably my parents as well.” When asked what his greatest accomplishment is Reed stated, “Either winning the state cross country meet or writing my first book.
