Millie Rose Bazzell was born on November 27, 2006, to parents Tomisine and Rickie Bazzell. She has five siblings: Drey, Denyce, Karin, Paige-Lee, and Isabel. Millie's favorite teacher is Mr. Ridings because “he has always advocated for her and pushed her to be the greatest she can be. He is always there to listen when she needs to talk, and he recruited her to join Track & Field, now one of her favorite sports.” One of Millie's favorite quotes comes from Mr. Layton during her first Track practice after her hip surgery: “This year doesn’t have to be great, you just have to come back.” If she had to describe herself in three words, she would choose determined, logical, and authentic. If Millie could travel anywhere in the world, she would choose Greece because she loves the history of the city and believes the statues and art would be amazing. Her favorite school memory is having a water balloon fight on her last day of junior year with her friend Samuel. Interestingly, Millie does not have a most embarrassing high school memory; she finds those moments funny instead.
When Millie was in elementary school, she wanted to be a cosmetologist, but as time went on, her aspirations shifted to becoming a teacher. After high school, Millie plans to attend basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) from June to December, followed by attending Mizzou in the spring semester. At Mizzou, she intends to join the ROTC program and study Biological Science while completing the Pre-Medical Program. Her goal is to attend medical school and eventually become an Active-Duty Army Surgeon. Throughout high school, Millie has been involved in numerous activities, including Student Council, Beta Club, Pep Club, FFA, and her Advisory Book Club. She has also participated in Cheerleading and Track & Field all four years. Her advice to underclassmen is, “Take every opportunity offered to you, even if you don’t think it’s something you’re interested in.” Millie is excited to graduate and start her adult life. What she will miss most about school is the closeness of the community at Woodland and all the people there. Her greatest influence has been Mr. Shrum, as he “always took time out of his day to check on me and see how he could help. He brightened my days, and sharing his experiences inspired me to strive to be both a great person and a diligent worker.” Millie feels that her biggest accomplishment so far is managing her time effectively.
