Woodland School District grieves the passing of Board of Education Member Doug Lindley Statement from the Woodland R-IV Board of Education Doug Lindley was a selfless leader whose guidance and camaraderie will be dearly missed. As we mourn the loss of our fellow board member, advocate, and friend, our hearts go out to Doug’s family. Mr. Lindley has longstanding roots in the Woodland community, having attended Woodland School District and graduating in 1977. After honorably serving in the Marines, he moved back to the Bollinger County area. As an advocate for the district, Mr. Lindley has served on the Woodland Board of Education in the 1990’s and again from 2016-present. He served as an active member and was elected Board President for several years. The building expansion of the elementary wing, launching the track program and facilities, as well as securing the funding for the new FEMA Safe Room benefited the district. “Doug’s leadership and ‘big picture’ perspective will be missed,” said Dr. Adrian Eftink, superintendent of schools. “His unwavering commitment to the children of the Woodland community enabled the Board of Education to prioritize many important district initiatives.” Doug was a fixture at school events and activities. He enjoyed taking pictures at various athletic events but most of all, he loved seeing students excel in academics. Our deepest condolences go out to Doug’s wife Pam, and all of Doug’s family members and friends and one honorary school board member, his dog Bugg.

Woodland High School Language Arts II and CP Language Arts II students presented their historical fiction stories and homemade houses to kindergarten. The story was based on an event occurring in the year a half dollar was minted, and the story was written from the point of view of the coin. The houses were for the coin to “live” in, and the kindergarteners were also gifted the coins.
